Introducing Alveston House Hotel’s Business Development ManagerView Christmas Brochure
Many hotels in the Bristol area offer conference facilities, but few provide a conference coordinator to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day. Alveston House Hotel’s Carole Crawshaw does just this.
Carole takes care of three key elements of every conference or business meeting:
- The booking. Carole will talk you through the conference facilities available at the hotel, including room sizes and layouts, catering options, services and equipment provided, and pricing – including 8-hour and 24-hour delegate rates. Carole will also cover issues such as special dietary needs should these apply.
- The big day. Having set everything up for your arrival, Carole’s business team will be ready and waiting to greet you on the day of your conference or meeting. They will welcome you, answer any questions you may have and show you to your meeting room. If you have any last-minute requests, she will do her best to accommodate these.
- Aftercare. Carole will give you a quick ring after your business event to find out how it went. The feedback Carole receives is almost unequivocally positive, and that’s why 90% of business users return to Alveston House Hotel again and again for meetings and conferences. However, in the unlikely event that there were any problems, she will ensure that these are resolved the next time you visit.
Carole says: “It’s good to be involved in not only building up to the conference, but also in being there on the day; providing real continuity. I book the conferences, sort out the details and meet the client on the day. It’s good for people to see a familiar face.
“We also do follow-up calls after the event to ensure everything went smoothly. We always get very good feedback, and without fail people mention our friendly staff.” .
She adds: “If we say we’re going to do something, we do it, and that’s hugely important. If we know something is going to be an issue, we are upfront about it. We are very honest and, if there are problems, we don’t cover them up. People are much more receptive if you say sorry and deliver a solution; we get people’s trust that way. That’s a very important thing, and that’s why people come back.
“It’s about quality and integrity. These are the main things we push, because that’s what we’re about. We want to get it right. We care about every single conference. Every one is as important as another and we want people to get what they expect.”

“It’s a joy to use a hotel that really understands customer service and puts it into action. I recently used Alveston House Hotel to run a business planning event for one of my clients. I was delighted with the responsive and friendly approach of the staff. All the arrangements ran like clockwork and staff were very flexible when our event didn’t quite follow the original plans. It was delightful to be able to concentrate on working with my clients with the reassurance that all the other practicalities such as coffee breaks, meals and equipment were being handled so professionally. I look forward to my next opportunity of working there.”
