Huge congratulations go to Sue Elliott, Wedding Co-ordinator here at Alveston House Hotel, and her golfing partner Rachael Thomas, who have become national champions after winning the Ping Fourball Betterball Tournament over the Thornock Park course at Gainsborough.

They win a choice of clubs or clothing to the value of £400 from the sponsors of the event as well as qualifying for the UK final of the Volvo Masters Amateur Tour at Kingsbarns, Scotland, in October.

Between them they parred 15 holes, bogeyed two and birdied the long 17th.

”We work well as a team – we’ve known each other for about 20 years and are good friends” said Sue, who plays off a four handicap after many years as a professional on the Ladies European Tour.  Rachael plays off a ten handicap and is determined to get down to single figures with the help of Sue’s partner Ryan Crowley, teaching professional at Henbury Golf Club, where Sue and Rachael are both members.
