Despite a journey of 17 hours to and from Transylvania I have returned in good spirit from the trip to Udvarhely.
The Church there welcomed the Team and had a full programme of involvement for us to join as the congregation seeks to serve its local community.
I particulary enjoyed working with the Children’s group which met each morning on a piece of land bordered by blocks of flats. There was a busy schedule of games, crafts and a bible story each day. How sad when Friday morning came and we had to say it was the last time we would be there! About 30 children joined the activities each day.
Other things I helped with were: The young people’s meeting during one evening, a visit to a special needs school in the town, the church services on Sunday and a visit to a gypsy village and church. Other members of the team visited the disabled group who meet in the church 2 mornings per week and spent time with the women of the congregation in their weekly meeting.
On our day off, the Team were taken to see a Salt Mine! This has been the site of excavations for hundreds of years and is a famous tourist attraction because of its heath benefits.
It was a great privileged for me to go on this trip. I want to say thank you to the Thornbury Baptist Church for the opportunity and to all members of the team who looked after me during the days that we spent together and for sharing with me this wonderful time.
Interesting? Useful? Why not share it!
