Big Chef, Little Chef

Head chef Ben Halliday spent time with a local pre-school recently, teaching groups of 3 & 4 year olds some tricks of the trade.Ben Halliday at Covey Pre-School

Ben arrived at Covey Pre-School armed with loaves of white bread, forest berries and moulds to pass on his secrets on how to make a great Summer Pudding.

The tots were gathered in small groups and each handed a mould and slice of bread.  Ben was on hand to assist the children with soaking and moulding the bread into their own individual pudding.  Each child was able to take their own special Summer Pudding home.

‘Things did get a bit messy but the children really enjoyed themselves.  The aim was to introduce the children to cooking at an early age and show how fun it can be!’ said Ben, who left the pre-school to a chorus of ‘Goodbye Chef Ben!’

He hopes to return again soon with more great recipes.
