What our guests say about us....

Mr Anthony Bergin - December 2011

I just wanted to let you know that I am leaving my company at Christmas and taking up a new role in London in the new year. I was planning to spend at least one more night at the hotel but unfortunately, circumstances are such that I will now not have the opportunity.

So I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed staying at the Alveston House Hotel. You and your staff have been so polite and helpful and have always gone about your business with a happy smile. It has been a real pleasure to stay with you all.

I am sorry that I was not able to say farewell in person and I am sad that I won't be staying again. I would be grateful if you would pass on my thanks to all the staff.

Thank you and have a great Christmas!

Trip Advisor Review - November 2011 - 'Shopping Trip'

My sister and I stayed here so we could go christmas shopping at Cribbs and not have to bother driving home the same night.Checking in was easy and the staff very polite and helpful. We had a lovely evening meal, the hotel was quiet but we still did not feel rushed in anyway.Breakfast was good and hot,the room was lovely with a beautiful shower and very hot water. We were so impressed that we are hopefully going to do the same next year.

Carol & Alan Rogers - 13th July 2011

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at Alveston House over the weekend..... it was a last minute decision to have a weekend near Bristol for the Balloon Festival, and how lucky we were to find Alveston House, we only stayed one night but we will definitely return for a longer stay.

A special mention must be made of Alex, such a polite, professional and courteous young man, he definitely has the potential to be the manager of a 5 Star Hotel !....though we do hope you can hang onto him until our next visit !...

We have just posted the following review on the Internet... and it's so well deserved...   "Extremely friendly and efficient staff. Superior standard of furnishings and decoration worthy of a 5 Star hotel. Breakfast was excellent, both in choice and quality.   Attention to detail was evident in every area.   An independently run hotel and my goodness it shows !. It's head and shoulders above the "chain" hotels. We will definitely return."

Thank you so much, our very best wishes and kindest regards to you all.

Trip Advisor Review - July 2011

I have just returned from a stay at this lovely hotel for a wedding of close friends.  We arrived Friday, and ate dinner at Carriages restaurant.  The food was excellent!

The hotel could not have been more accommodating, and on the wedding day itself on the Saturday until the moment we checked out on Sunday morning, for us, the occasion went beautifully thanks to all the hard-working, caring and courteous staff!

Your service was always with a smile.  keep up the good work and well done!

Heather Scott - May 2011

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling near Bristol or Bath. I was travelling from Leeds to Bath and my office organised for me to stay with Alveston House. From the moment I walked into reception late at night (10pm) I was made to feel special; the receptionist took me to my room, organised a sandwich for me to be delivered and explained the timings of breakfast etc. I slept extremely well in a very comfortable and well designed room, which had great views. Breakfast again was very special - I was looked after from the moment I walked into the breakfast room and had an excellent cooked breakfast. Thank you to all the staff - you were amazing.

Laterooms March 2011

I have stayed in many hotels over the past 30 years, generally whilst away on business.  Without doubt this is the very best hotel I have ever used.  Not the cheapest, no gym, swimming pool or all those other things they try to attract you with, just plain and simple first class customer service and attention to detail.  A spotlessly clean room, great food and happy staff - what more could you ask for?

Guest Questionnaire - November 2010

All the staff are exceptional in their manner and welcome to the guests.  In all our travels we have never experienced such caring people.

Laterooms November 2010

This hotel was booked at the last minute and I did not expect the level of service and consideration that I received from the very pleasant staff team. The food was excellent and the atmosphere of the whole hotel was delightful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others.

A lovely hotel. Very polite, friendly and attentive staff. Hotel is quiet, clean and very comfortable. Free WiFi, good TV, comfortable bed, room pleasant and very clean. Food in restaurant very good, with good choice. Breakfast good. Service fast and very professional. This hotel could teach the Corporate types a lot. Good value compared with other hotels, but Bristol is expensive for hotels. Why cannot all hotels be this way? Highly Recommended.

Trip Advisor September 2010

We stayed for one night for a 50th birthday celebration. We arrived early and our room was ready for us which was great. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were very attentive and nothing was a problem. Our son has special needs and the staff were more than happy to cater for this and we cannot thank them enough for making our stay very enjoyable.

We asked for specific food choices and this was done without question. Because of our requirements in a hotel it is hard to find somewhere that can do all we need, but the staff at Alveston House Hotel are great and I would recommend this hotel 100%

All the food was prepared as ordered and was very nice. The breakfast was good - lots of coffee and tea when you wanted it and every kind of cereal you could think of. The whole experience at the hotel was great.

The reception we attended was fantastic and everyone in our party had a wonderful time.

Thank you very much and we hope to stay with you again very soon.

We booked the accommodation late at night after a day of sightseeing in Bath. Alveston House surpassed our expectations. We booked one double room and one single. I had the single room which was luxuriously cosy compared to previous travel lodges we had stayed at. We arrived just in time to have a meal at the restaurant which had a feel of old worthy charm about it. The only regret is that we only stayed one night.

From the moment the helpful staff member transferred my booking to the following week at less than 24 hours notice I had the feeling that I would not be disappointed with my stay and I was right. Fantastic friendly but professional welcome on arrival and shown to room (last experienced at a 4 star hotel in the states) giving opportunity to declare acceptability. Dined in the Carriages restaurant which from the pre dinner drinks to the final cup of coffee proved to be a superb culinary experienced backed up by genuine warm and friendly efficient service. Well done and thank you to the Alveston House Hotel for maintaining a traditional hotel and I would certainly stay again if in the area.

Trip Advisor Review - 1 July 2010

I have had to stay away from home many times in the last few years - and I dread the faceless corporate bedroom factories that are so completely devoid of warmth and hospitality. In complete contrast, the Alveston House is living proof that a genuine welcome in a friendly environment still exists, and that if the person at the top really cares, then so do all the rest of the staff. And I have never before come across a hotel restaurant that consistently serves excellent meals. Beds are wonderfully comfortable. And your breakfast is cooked to order! If you're visiting North Bristol/South Glos with a mid-range budget, DON'T book yourself in anywhere else.

This is just to let you know how much we enjoyed our Weekend Break with you.  Our room was very good, well maintained, everything worked, and the meals were delicious and well served.  In fact everything was done to make our visit enjoyable.

We had a walk in your garden before we left and wish we had had longer.  With best wishes to you all.

From the friendly initial contact to departing, we found the staff friendly but not intrusive or "matey", helpful and efficient. Room had recently been decorated to a high standard. Food was excellent and the restaurant had a relaxed but elegant ambience. Good place to relax after a busy day.

Trip Advisor Review - 14 June 2010
Six friends had a completely enjoyable stay. The staff were the most friendly and efficient encountered anywhere, this from very well travelled people.
All the facilities and food were excellent, we felt welcome and wanted throughout our stay.
Thank you!

I recently stayed at your hotel for two nights on a business trip and just felt compelled to take time out to write and say how much I enjoyed my stay.
I have stayed in all kinds of hotels on business trips for many years but your hotel really stands out from the rest in terms of both customer service and fabulous food!
I have never experienced such a genuinely warm welcome at the end of a long drive and outstanding customer service when I had trouble connecting to your free wireless (the lady on reception even got the wireless company technical support on the phone so I could talk with him)
I was also really impressed with the food served in your Restaurant - everything I tried was absolutely exquisite with attention to detail that made it also a treat for the eyes.
I would be most grateful if you could pass on my appreciation and praise to your staff and thank them for making my stay such a delightful experience.

Trip Advisor Review - 1st December 2009
Very convenient location for Bristol and surrounding area, without being city-fied. It was perfect for me as I had conference in Bristol Fri and Monday, so wanted a quiet place to 'lie low' and relax over the weekend, somethwre that didn't feel like all the other hotels that I have to stay in when working. So this was lovely - homely yet very professional. Personal service, great food, attentive yet non-intrusive staff. I would recomment it to anyone. My only advice would be to check with the staff what room you're booking as not all rooms have been updated in the style shown on website - all are no doubt clean and comfortable as mine was, but not all are in the New England style, mine was slightly dated in style. (Although as I say, perfectl clean and comfortable.) A great weekend - thank you to great staff.

Trip Advisor Review - 23rd November 2009
My wife and I and one of our children stayed for a weekend break as a base for visiting Bath and Bristol. Having read the reviews on Trip advisor I was comfortable with my decision to book. The Hotel did not disappoint - the reception was very friendly and welcoming and took us to our room which was perfectly neat and tidy and well appointed - care and thought had obviously gone into the preparation by housekeeping. The dinner was excellent, a high quality steak which is quite rare to get in this country and the service was absolutely first class (also quite rare). I travel a lot on business and am very picky with quality. This hotel is exceptional and I will definately be staying again. If you want a worry free and pampered time this is a good place to stay. Many thanks to all the staff.

Trip Advisor Review - 8th October 2009
Found by chance and we found the level of service and attention from the many staff memorable. Clean and comfortable room and a first class dinner added to our stay. To find such a delight is rare and it is just a shame that we live so far away. Our next visit to Cribbs Causeway will have to allow another visit.

Trip Advisor Review - 4th October 2009
Just spent the weekend at this delightful hotel. On arrival on Friday evening we were immediately impressed by the welcome we received. Our room was large, airy and very tastefully decorated as well as being spotlessly clean. We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant on our first evening and it did not dissapoint. The food was of a very high standard, beautifully presented and served by very friendly and proffessional staff in lovely surroundings . Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choice and a bottomless coffee pot!... an excellent break and real value for money.

Trip Advisor Review - 2nd October 2009
This hotel was booked by my office and I expected the usual tired, worn business hotel with uncaring, indifferent staff and equally indifferent food. How wrong could I be!! This is an excellent hotel, the room I stayed in was clean, had a very comfortable bed and was equipped with TV and all the usual extras, tea coffee etc. No mini bar, but hey, who needs it when you've a bar downstairs staffed by friendly helpful people? The food was fabulous, I've eaten in some fine restaurants and this place could hold its own against most of them. I only had one night at this little gem but I will be back. Excellent.

Trip Advisor Review - 19th September 2009
I stayed here initially for one week, but liked it so much that I extended my stay to 10 nights! Lovely comfortable bed, nice quiet room (no traffic noise despite close to main road). Fantastic food both for breakfast and evening meals. All the staff were very friendly and very helpful. I didn't want to leave!! It's a perfect location for anyone wanting to reach Bristol/South West and Wales and I would recommend 100% to anyone looking for an excellent hotel within quick & easy road access.

This letter is to thank you for the fantastic effort you put in to make our weekend really special.  We are so glad that we booked your hotel for the event.  I was very impressed with the way things went so smoothly and all the guests said the s ame; from the catering to the accommodation, it was perfect.  It is a very comfortable place to stay.

The General feeling of 'can do' and helpfulness was so welcome, when many establishments these days do not always supply these traits.

Mr & Mrs Andrews - 16 January 2009
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time and you have a gem of a hotel here. Thank you very much to everyone who has served/helped us.

Just a line to thank you for your great hospitality during our stay breaking the journey from Scotland to Devon.  You have superb friendly staff, the food was spot on and we would certainly return.

A perfect gem to stay at for any visit to the Bristol, Bath, Gloucester, Forest of Dean area.  Comfortable, elegant, refined and most relaxing.  A hospitable, welcoming, courteous and attentive staff and a first class kitchen.  Two visits a year for the past 5 years says it all; highly recommended.
