Alveston House Hotel is committed to working in a sustainable way.  The following policy has been implemented to help us to achieve our aims to be environmentally focused.

  • We reduce pollution, emissions and waste by recycling.
  • We reduce the use of energy, water and other resources.
  • We raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in sustainable business practices.

  • We assist customers to use products and services in an environmentally sensitive way.
  • We liaise with the local community.
  • We have minimised our risks associated with social and environmental issues.
  • We have joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme as an indicator of our sustainable practices.

Responsible Visitor Charter

We encourage all our guests to join with us and be responsible visitors and help us protect the local environment.  Listed below are some suggestions in which we encourage you to participate:

 

Conserve Energy

Turn off lights. Close windows if heating is on.  Switch off your Television and do not leave on standby.

 

Give the Car a Rest

Leave the car behind, if only for a day, walk, cycle or use public transport.  Details can be found in our local information folder located in the lounge.

 

Shop Local

Use local products, they give you a flavour of the area and help support the local communities.

 

Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle

Try to avoid overly packaged goods and say no to that extra carrier bag.  Try and recycle any waste you have.

 

Be Water Wise

Turning the tap off when brushing your teeth saves water. Towels are replaced only when you request this to be done by placing them in your bath or shower.

 

Respect Nature

Remember, when using designated walks please abide by the signposts and remain on the allocated pathways, which will help ensure our wildlife, fauna and flora remain undisturbed and allowed to flourish naturally.

 

Support Green Tourism Business
